On Monday I was invited to attend SHARE's 12th Annual A Second Helping of Life Tasting Event at Pier Sixty in Chelsea Piers. It's an annual event to raise money to help those with breast and ovarian cancer. I'm embarrassed to admit that I have never heard of this event and it has been around for 12 years! It was such a great event, great chefs, great people, great cause. Here are some snapshots from that night.

Clouds And Ice Cream
This past Sunday I got to hang out with Doug and Bryan of Big Gay Ice Cream at the Fort Hamilton Army Base 4th of July Celebration. Though while many of the event goers were busy watching the show and filling their tummy with ice cream and wafels and pizzas, I pretty much was just staring at the sky. That day the clouds were just so incredible! I love clouds. I think I can spend a whole day just looking at them.
The night ended with fireworks and the Superman theme song playing along with the fireworks. Nothing says Happy Birthday to America like the Superman theme song.
L'Arc~en~Ciel At Madison Square Garden
Birthday! Yes more birthday talk. This was, might I say, best birthday year ever, when your all time most favorite Japanese rock band hits up NYC for their 20th anniversary world tour near my birthday! L'Arc~en~Ciel, a band I have listened to since high school, along with X Japan and Luna Sea, was introduced to me by my good friend Ken.
So how did I get into the photo pit at MSG? Well..it's awesome when your younger sister works at a music magazine and knows the PR person handling this tour. I was given a photo pass AND a ticket to see the show after my work was done. Yes it was work since I was taking photos for my sister's company. Standing in the photo pit, waiting for the band to start and having to snake around other photographers to get my shot. During all that I realized...I kind of miss taking concert photos. The one awesome experience I had was when I got to travel, with other coworkers, to the Voodoo Music Experience down in New Orleans back in 2008. Ah..hello! I got to have front row viewing of R.E.M., Lil Wayne, Lupe Fiasco, Stone Temple Pilots...etc.
Also thanks to my friend Anh for lending me her telephoto lens since i traded mine for a Canon G12.
Food52 Piglet Party
This past Monday was the Food52 Piglet Party. For people that don't know the Piglet, it's basically having cookbooks go head to head with one another till you have only one book left. Each round there are judges picking which book to move onto the next bracket. In the end Alice Waters picked Joe Beef over Momofuku Milk Bar.
The party was loads of fun. I got to see some old friends, few new acquaintances and shook hands with an idol (SARA JENKINS OF PORCHETTA!!)
I also found out about the Craft Coffee and SoCo Creamery (ARGH their espresso chip ice cream was so good).
